[30th Anniversary] "GHOST IN THE SHELL" 4K Remastered Edition Revival Screening Begins October 31st

 

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the film's release in 1995.

The 4K remastered version of the animated film "GHOST IN THE SHELL" will be shown again for two weeks only from October 31st at 84 theaters nationwide (planned) (some theaters and screens may show the film in 2K).

This is part of a revival screening project organized by Filmarks, and admission is a flat rate of 1,600 yen. 

Original admission gifts will also be distributed.

The film is based on the manga "Ghost in the Shell" by Masamune Shirow and was made into an animated film by director Mamoru Oshii in 1995. 

It depicts the exploits of Kusanagi Motoko and other members of "Public Security Section 9," an extralegal special forces unit formed to combat cyberterrorism and other crimes.

It has influenced overseas creators, including Lana and Lilly Wachowski, directors of "The Matrix," and the Hollywood film "Ghost in the Shell," starring Scarlett Johansson, was released in 2017.
