The first release date for "Cat's・Eye" (note: the "・" is officially written as a heart mark), which will be exclusively streamed on Disney+'s "Star" from September, has been set for September 26th.
It has also been revealed that Ado will be performing the new opening theme song, and the official trailer and key visual have been released.

The series is a re-animated version of the popular manga by Hojo Tsukasa, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha) from 1981 to 1984.
It depicts the three beautiful sisters Hitomi Kisugi (voiced by Mikako Komatsu), Rui (Ami Koshimizu), and Ai (Yumiri Hanamori), owners of the cafe Cat's Eye, as they run through the dark night as phantom thieves who target art treasures.
The TV anime version, which aired from 1983 to 1985, was well-received, and in recent years the three sisters have also appeared in the City Hunter the Movie series, also based on Hojo's original work.

The new anime series that will begin streaming this time is a completely new work with a completely new cast and other elements from previous works.
The first part, episodes 1 to 6, will be released from September 26th to October 31st, and the second part, episodes 7 to 12, will be released from December 26th to January 30th, 2026, with one episode released per week.

The new opening theme song, "MAGIC," will be sung by Ado.
Vocaloid producer Tsumiki, known for songs like "Phony" and "Tokyo Shandy Rendezvous," will team up with Ado for the first time to write the lyrics, compose the music, and arrange the song.
It has already been announced that Ado will cover the 1983 theme song, "CAT'S EYE," as the ending theme.

The trailer features Hitomi, who is troubled by her love for Utsumi Toshio (Sato Takuya), a detective pursuing the phantom thief Cat's Eye, and the three sisters renewing their resolve to continue their secret activities as phantom thieves for a certain purpose.
New characters include freelance writer Kamiya Masato, who makes his anime debut, and Utsumi's colleague Asatani Mitsuko, who suspects there is an informant within the police force.
The key visual shows Hitomi, Rui, and Ai running through the city at night, with Toshio chasing them.

The trailer also features Katsuyuki Konishi as Kamiya and Yoko Hikasa as Asaya.
Kamiya is said to be the model for Ryo Saeba, the main character of "City Hunter," while Asaya is an intelligent and cool female detective who pursues the phantom thief Cat's Eye.

The full comments from Ado, Konishi, Hikasa, and original author Hojo are as follows:

[Ado]

I recently covered "CAT'S EYE" as the ending theme for the anime "Cat's Eye," and now I've been given the opportunity to perform the opening theme as well. I'm truly honored.
"MAGIC" was written by Tsumiki and is a new frontier for Ado, a heart-pounding retro-pop number.
The anime will be available on Disney+. Let's enjoy it together.

[Katsuyuki Konishi (role of Masato Kamiya)]

Hello everyone.
I'm Konishi, and I will be voicing the role of Kamiya Masato.
It feels like a dream come true that I'll be appearing in "Cat's Eye," a show I watched as a child.
Back then, I would hold a recorder close to the TV and record the opening and closing sequences on tape to listen to.
I'm already looking forward to seeing what kind of "Cat's Eye" will be this time!!
Thank you for your support!!

[Yoko Hikasa (role of Mitsuko Asatani)]

I watched "Cat's Eye" when I was little. I never thought the day would come when I'd be involved!
When I was a child, I thought of it as a sexy, mature anime, but when you read it in modern times, it's a romantic comedy, and it depicts some heartwarming, lovable human relationships. I think it's a work that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Asaya, the ladder-like Asaya who corners Cat, and Asaya who is full of humanity.
Both of their faces are charming, so I hope you'll look forward to it!

[Hojo Tsukasa (original author)]

It's thanks to all the fans who have supported us over the years that we're once again able to bring you "Cat's Eye" as an anime. I'm truly grateful.
As this was my first serialized work, I was feeling my way around as I drew it, so it does feel a bit awkward (laughs).
This new work is closer to the original, and Kamiya, aka "Nezumi," who hasn't appeared before, will also play an active role.
He is the character who formed the basis for Ryo Saeba from "City Hunter."
I hope that fans of City Hunter will enjoy seeing him, as he could be said to be the origin of Ryo.
I hope that this new story of the three sisters will reach generations unfamiliar with "Cat's Eye."
Please look forward to it.
