The title of the 45th film in the "Doraemon the Movie" series has been decided to be "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the New Castle of Devil's Rock" (released in 2006).
Released in 1983, "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Castle of Devil's Rock" has long been loved as one of the masterpieces of the "Doraemon the Movie" series, but after more than 40 years, it will be reborn in 2026.
The director will be Yajima Tetsuo, who has worked on the TV anime "Doraemon" as well as numerous other productions, including "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Great Adventure into the Underworld - The Seven Magicians" in 2007, "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the New Steel Troops - Angel Wings" in 2011, and "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Great Earth Symphony" in 2024, bringing out the best in the characters.
Yajima, who knows Doraemon inside and out, is finally taking on the role of director for the first time in the "Doraemon the Movie" series.
Commenting on his selection, director Yajima said, "We're taking him to a deep-sea world no one has ever seen before. I look forward to the day we can experience it together on the big screen."
The script is written by Murayama Isao, who has written numerous episodes for the Doraemon TV anime.
Murayama, who is extremely familiar with Doraemon from his many years of experience, will be taking on his first role in the Doraemon Movie series.
A teaser visual was also released, showing Doraemon and his friends standing on the crystal clear surface of the water, along with the tagline, "10,000 meters under the sea. There is a world on Earth that no one has yet discovered."
The figure of a mysterious boy can also be seen on the water's surface, and beyond that, a huge, unidentified "Undersea Castle of Devil's Rock" appears, building anticipation for the new adventure that will unfold in this underwater world.
A teaser video (https://youtu.be/dHoQ2ivtfZs) was also released, gradually lifting the veil over the mysterious deep sea to reveal a glimpse of the magnificent underwater world that will astound viewers.
It vividly depicts a sunken ship silently sinking into the depths of the ocean, a mysterious giant creature that suddenly appears before Doraemon and his friends, and a shining, fantastical underwater city.
At the end of the video, an unidentified presence appears before Doraemon and his friends.
"Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the New Great Adventure in the Undersea Castle" is scheduled to be released in 2026.
[Comment from Tetsuo Yajima]
10,928m. The deepest depths mankind has ever reached.
And even further -- let's go on an adventure with Doraemon and friends!
Surely, creatures and scenery never before seen await. Doesn't it get you excited just thinking about it?
The choices and decisions they will have to make there may trouble them. But there are sure to be "unexpected answers" hidden within.
To a deep sea world no one has ever seen before.
I look forward to the day we can experience it together on the big screen.
Tetsuo Yajima
